Next Up – Kids Camping Quilts

With the 10 Little Things quilt at the quilters, it’s time to start working on my next project.  Although there are projects I’d rather work on, I need to get working on the kids quilts for the camper.  If I don’t do them now, it will be the summer of 2013 before they can start using them!

Tonight I cut the rest of the 1.5″ sashing strips….38 of them total!  Maybe tomorrow I’ll cut them down into the 5 & 6″ strips that I’ll need them to be to sew them to the charm squares.

1.5" strips for sashing....38 of them!

What do you think of the iron holder?  We picked it up at IKEA on Sunday because it always seems to get in the way on the counter.  We also picked up an under cabinet light and a hat rack….I’ll post about the reason for the hat rack in the craft room at a later date.

About msminnesota

I'm a wife, mom of two (one blue, one pink), and I work full time. Our family loves to camp, and we're often on mini adventures during the summer. My fall/winter/spring/rainy day hobby is quilting. I started about 10 years ago, then put everything away when The Blue One was born. A few years ago a good friend decided to take up this 'hobby' and I've been back at it ever since. She's my partner in crime (A.K.A. 'the enabler'). I have no aspirations of becoming a quilt designer - I'm just not that good at geometry (I rely on my math major/computer programmer husband to help with piecing backs at times!). This little blog is my way of chronicling my quilting adventures. Occasionally I post about non-quilting things as well. Thanks for stopping by. Don't forget to say HI! IG: wannabequilter

  1. The iron holder picture is what drew me in…..too cool! I hope soon to have my craft room in order the way I want it.

Marsha – thanks for popping in! I was having such a problem with the iron being in the way that I casually said to my hubby – I wonder if I could find an iron holder. About 30 seconds later he said, ‘like this one?’ and showed me the picture on the IKEA website. For $9, you really can’t go wrong!
I have a pretty great craft room that I share with my hubby (his 1/3 to my 2/3….the way it should be!), and I’m fortunate that we got to start from scratch and design it the way we wanted it. It’s not organized the greatest – that’s a WIP in itself, and there are some things I would have done differently. I’m planning on getting it cleaned up and posting pics in a future post.
