I finally finished the very first quilt I ever started. I took a community ed class a few (ahem) years ago. (Before the Blue One was born.) I finished the top shortly after the class, and I even had it quilted within a couple of months. Then I almost immediately sewed the binding onto the front of it. Then it sat. And sat. And sat. And eventually I hung it on a hanger in a closet. And it hung, and hung, and hung.
Well, I sucked it up and finished the binding with the machine this week. I had originally planned to hand sew it, but that’s likely what left it hanging in a closet for a few years. Best intentions, right?
I have no clue what fabric it is, or what pattern it is – I can’t find the instructions from the class. I remember it came together rather quickly. I also remember this was the first time I learned about chain piecing, which makes things go so much faster. It’s lap size.
If anyone knows what pattern it is, please let me know – I may try to hunt it down again.
Congrats on striking one more UFO off your to-be-completed list! Looks just right for a winter evening snuggle on the sofa.
Hi Tara – thanks for stopping by!
This is actually the first quilt that I’ve finished that I get to keep! The other finishes have been gifts. And with that flannel back, I can’t wait to use it this winter!
