Chevrons At Last!

I’ve really been looking forward to working with these Chevrons, and I’m really pleased how fantastic they look in the block. It’s a Super Secret block for the time being, so I’ll show you a close-up and as soon as I can, I’ll post the block.  And hopefully by then I’ll have a finished top.  Oh, and by the way, the navy that I was having such a hard time cutting isn’t going to be an issue.  They get cut into 2.5″ strips and I’m no longer worried about them.  Aren’t you glad?

While at the quilt shop for my class last night working on the Chevron block, one of the girls showed off a quilt she made to put on display at the shop for a pattern/kit they have, and I was totally sucked in and bought it.  It’s Terry Atkinson’s Fire Escape pattern, and the kit is done with Kate Spain’s Joy Christmas line.  So dang cute!

I have to confess – I’ve had my machine for over 10 years and I’ve never taken it in.  It was acting up on me when I was sewing on Saturday, Sunday, and last night at class, so my hubby took it to the machine doctor today and I’ll be without it for 2-3 weeks or so.  I’m sure it needs a good cleaning, so I’m ok with being without it for a while.  The issue I was having was that the fabric wasn’t moving forward between the feed dogs and the presser foot and nothing had changed on my machine settings.  I’m having to pull everything through, and it’s making for uneven stitch length and I can’t keep an even seam allowance.  So frustrating!!  So in my limited knowledge, I’m at a loss, and I’m hoping the tech will find it and fix it for me.

Here’s a picture of my sad, lonely and empty sewing space without the machine.  We could have a fun game of I-Spy with this picture!  (Yes, that’s a wine bottle, and yes, it’s empty!)

Finish the super secret blocks – I can’t wait to get them all put together and get that top assembled!

On The Back Burner:

(This is going to take a lot longer than I had originally thought!)

Next Up:
Lucy’s Crab Shack in Cluck Cluck Sew’s Plus pattern.

Somewhere down the line:
Table runners/coasters for the living room tables
Mug rug for my desk
Bliss quilt…I still have no clue what pattern
A Christmas Quilt
A Halloween Quilt
ANOTHER Christmas Quilt (Fire Escape/Joy-Kate Spain)
Another super-secret project.  No pics or hints of this one – it’s a gift

About msminnesota

I'm a wife, mom of two (one blue, one pink), and I work full time. Our family loves to camp, and we're often on mini adventures during the summer. My fall/winter/spring/rainy day hobby is quilting. I started about 10 years ago, then put everything away when The Blue One was born. A few years ago a good friend decided to take up this 'hobby' and I've been back at it ever since. She's my partner in crime (A.K.A. 'the enabler'). I have no aspirations of becoming a quilt designer - I'm just not that good at geometry (I rely on my math major/computer programmer husband to help with piecing backs at times!). This little blog is my way of chronicling my quilting adventures. Occasionally I post about non-quilting things as well. Thanks for stopping by. Don't forget to say HI! IG: wannabequilter

Good luck with the ‘somewhere down the line’…I love the Chevrons.
Hope Bunny is back soon…I’d miss my sewing machine so much if it was gone for so long.
