I know it doesn’t look like it, but I swear, I’m still around!
I’ve completed 5 quilt tops since my last post. FIVE! That’s absolutely crazy for me!
1 – Terry Atkinson’s Fire Escape in Kate Spain’s Joy – Christmas 2013 gift
2 – Terry Atkinson’s Yellow Brick Road in assorted Project Linus prints for my P.L. donation quilt.
3 & 4 – Cluck Cluck Sew’s Road Trip in a multitude of grey/pink/white girly prints. I did 15 rows instead of 10 rows so they could be grown in to!
5 – Valori Wells’ Lion Around in Riley Blake’s Zoofari.
Oh yeah, and my first-ever taggie!
The best part? I did 2-4 in a weekend. I went to a quilt retreat hosted by a (not so) LQS Calico Hutch for a 3-day weekend in early February. I had all of my fabrics for these projects cut, and most of the blocks assembled for Linus. I laid it out and completed the quilt top on Friday evening.
Here are the beginnings of 1 of the Road Trip quilts…
I completed the tops for 3 & 4 on Saturday & Sunday. I added first initials in applique to both of them and had some thread issues along the way, so they didn’t come together as quickly as I had hoped.
I can’t post pics just yet of most of these because they’re gifts, but I will soon, I promise!
February was a great top-completing month for me, and I’m hoping March is a great quilt-finishing month for me. I’ve got 2 dates on the calendar to rent the long arm, so I’m hoping to bust out 3-4 quilts over those 2 days. We’ll see how it goes…
Wow, that’s a lot of quilting, Julie! I’ve never used a long arm (or sent my quilts away … Yet) so I’ll pop back to see how that goes 🙂
Hi Jennifer – thanks for stopping in and commenting.
I am too chicken to try quilting on my home machine, so to the long-arm they go. I enjoy the process of doing them myself there, even though I use computerized patterns. It’s still me finishing them in my mind!
What a huge number of top finishes- wow! Enjoy your long-arm time…
For me it was HUGE, even though 3 of them were super quick to whip together.
I was able to get 2 quilted on Sunday, and managed to get the bindings sewn on one side of each yesterday. Maybe tonight I’ll finish…I just didn’t want to switch out my thread and wind bobbins last night. And really – to completely finish 2 quilts in 2 days would have been just too much for me! 🙂 Usually it takes weeks (or months…)!
