The Creeper finally has a face!
It’s much improved over Wednesday’s face.
I am happy to say that this finish is pretty much finished. I got top & bottom borders added last night and will put the side borders on tonight when I get home from work. Then piecing the back and prepping it for the long arm tomorrow.
This quilt came together in a week, mostly after 8:30 p.m. when The Blue One goes to bed (I almost got busted TWICE!) :
Saturday: Bought greens
Sunday: Pressed greens
Monday: Cut & start piecing greens
Tuesday: Bought black (didn’t have any in my stash that I could find, doh!)
$2 kids meals at the local bowling alley, no sewing!
Wednesday: Added the black squares, assembled rows
Thursday: Sewed rows together, top borders on
Friday: Side borders, Piece back
Next step – figuring out how to quilt it. I really want to straight line quilt it, but have concerns about doing it on the long arm, mostly because I’ve only ever used the computer, haven’t done one by hand. Can I just quilt it horizontally? The finished squares are 5.5″. Hmmm…will have to ponder that and consult with Gret. I’d like to use black thread – I don’t want to take any focus off of the face so don’t want to quilt with colored thread through it. What do you think?

Does your long arm have a the horizontal lock feature? If so, I have seen long armers use this to quilt straight lines. If you want a grid, just quilt it one way, take it off the machine and reload it the other way and to quilt the opposite grid lines. Sure is a cute quilt!
Yes, the machine has horizontal and vertical lock. I was thinking about quilting across, unloading it, rotating it 90 degrees, and loading it again, but I don’t know if I can be bothered. 🙂 I pay by the hour to long arm so don’t know if I want to load it back up again.
