I realized I hadn’t posted the final pictures of the Joy quilt I finished this week, so here it is…

Because the fabric prints are so bold, it’s hard to see the stitch pattern on the front…

but much easier to see it on the minky backing.

This one is my mother-in-law’s Christmas gift. I think she’ll really like it!
Finished top is 66×78.
I’m linking up to Finish it up Friday over at crazy mom quilts. Head on over to see what amandajean and the other crazy talented people have been up to this week!

About msminnesota
I'm a wife, mom of two (one blue, one pink), and I work full time. Our family loves to camp, and we're often on mini adventures during the summer. My fall/winter/spring/rainy day hobby is quilting. I started about 10 years ago, then put everything away when The Blue One was born. A few years ago a good friend decided to take up this 'hobby' and I've been back at it ever since. She's my partner in crime (A.K.A. 'the enabler').
I have no aspirations of becoming a quilt designer - I'm just not that good at geometry (I rely on my math major/computer programmer husband to help with piecing backs at times!).
This little blog is my way of chronicling my quilting adventures. Occasionally I post about non-quilting things as well.
Thanks for stopping by. Don't forget to say HI!

I love the fabrics you used and the Christmas lights quilting is amazing!!
Thanks Cristina!
What a great gift! How did you like working with the minky?
It is so irresistibly soft isn’t it?
Happy Sewing
I don’t like working with minky, but it is such a great backing material! 🙂
Thanks for stopping by!

Thank you, Jennifer!
It is gorgeous. I love the quiling. Your mother-in-law is very lucky!
Thank you!
I love your binding. It is so much fun.
Thanks, Jasmine!
I have always liked this pattern and I absolutely love it in this yummy Christmas fabric line! It’s so festive and fun.
I agree – it was fun to make.
I don’t like working with minky either! I have one quilt I still need to finish, that minky is slow going though. This quilt is awesome, and the quilting is spot on!
Thank you, Liz!
Greetings! I’m coming over from Lily’s Quilts Small Blog Meet. I know you feel great having finished such a lovely quilt. Your mother-in-law is sure to love it! I’ve done some bindings with striped fabric and the multi-color dimensional affect is striking. Did you quilt it yourself on your sewing machine? I love it.
I didn’t quilt it on my own machine – I rent time on a long arm and it’s a computerized pattern. It’s way more ambitious than anything I would do on my own.
I’ve thought about doing that with my bigger quilts. I’ve done up to a twin size on my home machine but only simple lines & easy loops.
The best part about renting time on the long arm is that it’s 5 minutes from a winery, so when we’re done, we head over there and have some super yummy wine! 🙂
I guess better AFTER you quilt it than BEFORE! 🙂
I just came over from Lily’s Quilts Small Blog Meet. Your Christmas quilt is beautiful, your mother-in-law will be very happy with her present!
