Nowhere to Go, Nowhere to Be

Ahhhh, Sunday…glorious Sunday. A day when the hubby and kids let me sleep in until 9! A day when I may or may not shower. A day when I will definitely sew. We did all of the errand-running yesterday, so I don’t even have to leave the house. YAY!

Today I’m hoping to finish up my ‘Stacks of Colour’ quilt that I was working on last night. It’s currently in 3 big pieces, so I just need to sew them together and add the inner and outer borders, then I’ll be finished! Gret was right – this came together really quickly and I’ll be taking it to the long arm when we go next (December 15).

Hubby hung my design wall for me this week.  It’s not as large as I’d like, but I’m working with what I’ve got, and it’s better than crawling around on the floor!

I am also working on cleaning up my sewing space a bit.  Somehow my space ended up with the Goodwill bucket for toys and bag of clothes, so I’ve moved them out of my way (and into the hall!).  I’ve still got some other things to take care of, and I may even dust!  In my minor burst of cleaning energy, I found this on the floor –

It’s from when Gret & I went to our very first long arm lesson – I quilted my name in my practice piece.  I cut this 9×9″ square out and am planning to bind it and hang it in my sewing space.

Here’s how 1/2 of my room looks right now thanks to that little cleaning burst.

Wonder how long that will last???

About msminnesota

I'm a wife, mom of two (one blue, one pink), and I work full time. Our family loves to camp, and we're often on mini adventures during the summer. My fall/winter/spring/rainy day hobby is quilting. I started about 10 years ago, then put everything away when The Blue One was born. A few years ago a good friend decided to take up this 'hobby' and I've been back at it ever since. She's my partner in crime (A.K.A. 'the enabler'). I have no aspirations of becoming a quilt designer - I'm just not that good at geometry (I rely on my math major/computer programmer husband to help with piecing backs at times!). This little blog is my way of chronicling my quilting adventures. Occasionally I post about non-quilting things as well. Thanks for stopping by. Don't forget to say HI! IG: wannabequilter

I agree that even a small design wall is better than floor or bed! (Sleeping on the couch till a qilt got finished got old fast!) I’ll bet your top is finished by now. Love those yellows and oranges!

It does feel good when you get the final borders on! I did a bit of cleaning in my sewing space, and got some chain piecing done for some HSTs. I’ve learned I don’t rotary cut late at night, so will finish up with a bit of ironing and leave the trimming until tomorrow. I love your name quilted in the square. It will give your sewing space character! Have a good week!

Love the clean and tidy look. Barbie and Skipper have moved into my sewing space. I might have to move them out soon.

I want to hear from you...
