I finally did it – use the Lil Twister template that I’ve had for probably a year. I just didn’t know what I wanted to make with it, but finally the right project presented itself.
My parents recently bought a new entertainment center and a new tv. When we went to visit, I saw that they had their tv on a hand towel on top of the entertainment center. Now, we can’t have that, can we?? No!
I picked up some neutral FQs a couple of weeks ago – I didn’t think they’d want anything too bold, so this is what I came up with…
And it became this…
It ended up a lot smaller than I expected it would, but that’s totally fine. I’m adding a solid outer border in Moda Bella Willow – it’s the same color as the accent walls in their family room. And how do I know this? My dad brought me a paint sample and I matched it with my Moda color card. I’m going to bind it in the same fabric. Did I mention that neither of my parents know about this? I hope they like it!
Sunday I head to the long arm to quilt my Noteworthy quilt, so I’m going to throw this on the machine after I finish the quilt. I was going to quilt it myself at home, but there are seams EVERYWHERE, and I haven’t done much of my own quilting, so I’d rather just put this on the machine and be done with it.
I suppose I should think about a back for it (I almost forgot!). I have 4 additional neutral FQs, I’ll just use a couple of those. That was easy!
My other little project – I’m a member of the Sweetwater Label Crew Club, and here’s my WIP of the December project:
Here’s a link to the Label Crew Project so you can see how stinking cute they are when done. The Noteworthy ones are so cute! My parents always have cookies on-hand, so I thought these labels would be a super cute little gift for them. Guess that means I need to get them a super cute cookie jar, too! You’ll have to check back to see the finished product.
Happy WIP Wednesday! Linking to Lee!
That looks pretty cool! Well done.
Thank you!
Wow. I love the end results. Really fun.
Thanks! I’m very happy with it.
Really cool. I’ve been thinking about purchasing one of those twister template thingies. I don’t like the amount of waste, though.
I made pretty good use of the waste – that’s what I made the tags out of! But I agree – it’s sad to see those fabric scraps in the garbage!
Looks good! Do you remember if you cut 5″ squares (and used 1/4″ seams)? I cut 5″ squares, but I think my seams were a little big since I wasn’t able to get my second row out of my material since I had overcut with the rotary cutter. So, I am replacing the first row and just making it a plain table runner and then do another one with 6″ squares. I am so glad I am using scraps for my first attempt.
I did use 5″ squares and they came out just great.
