My Project Cart

During what was supposed to be a ‘quick’ trip to Ikea in February, I picked up a RÅSKOG kitchen cart.  It wasn’t the reason for my trip – I really just needed to pick up some more KASSETT boxes for fabric storage.  Gretchen had purchased one of the RÅSKOG carts for her craft room makeover and when I told her I was popping in for a couple of small things, she asked me to pick her up another one.  She also suggested that maybe I’d want one of my own (I hadn’t previously even considered it).  When we were at IKEA tossing one on the cart, my husband said, ‘don’t you need one, too?’  Well, I guess I did!  I knew exactly where I wanted to store it, but I wasn’t completely sure it would fit, and darn it, I was right.  😦

It fits UNDER the cabinet, but even turned sideways, it doesn’t fit next to the bookshelf under there – it happens to be about 4″ too wide.  Despite it being out all the time, I’m keeping it.  I’ve already got it loaded with my current three (ha!  I wish it were only 3) WIPs.  Let me just say – these are my top 3 WIPs.  🙂

Top bin – Wishes for the Fat Quarter Shop Wishes QAL

Middle bin – yardage for borders, binding, and backing of the mystery quilt I did at the February retreat.

Bottom bin – my fabric for the Vice Versa BOM.

I think I’m going to like this little cart.  I’m also hoping it helps me get back on track and not be so all over the board when it comes to projects I’m working on.  I have countless WIPs, and I’m not liking that feeling.  I want to reign some of those projects in, finish them up, and move on down my list.

About msminnesota

I'm a wife, mom of two (one blue, one pink), and I work full time. Our family loves to camp, and we're often on mini adventures during the summer. My fall/winter/spring/rainy day hobby is quilting. I started about 10 years ago, then put everything away when The Blue One was born. A few years ago a good friend decided to take up this 'hobby' and I've been back at it ever since. She's my partner in crime (A.K.A. 'the enabler'). I have no aspirations of becoming a quilt designer - I'm just not that good at geometry (I rely on my math major/computer programmer husband to help with piecing backs at times!). This little blog is my way of chronicling my quilting adventures. Occasionally I post about non-quilting things as well. Thanks for stopping by. Don't forget to say HI! IG: wannabequilter

The boxes and cart look great. I love anything that will help organize me and keep on-going projects at hand. I’d rather spend my time sewing than digging around my room to find that one thing I’m looking for! That said, I’m heading to my room to find that little scrap of fabric for the final border cornerstones that “I know” I have somewhere!!

It looks great in your space.. I’ve been eyeing that IKEA cart for a while. Despite the fact that I don’t have much space to put it in my sewing room I still want it 🙂
