My FINAL WIP Post About This Triangle Quilt

Mr. Triangle Quilt and I had a date with the long-arm on Sunday, and now it’s officially quilted!

Beware – this is a picture heavy post because I’m just SO happy with how well the quilting turned out.

I was having a hard time figuring out how I wanted to quilt this.  Originally I was thinking straight-ling quilting, but then I figured that would take me forever (it’s roughly king-sized).  So I started looking at computerized designs.  I didn’t want anything too ‘swirly’ or anything with sharp edges.  Then last weekend Gretchen & I were texting each other different designs we found online and together we found one that I really liked.  It’s called ‘Double Bubble’.  About half way through the quilting, Gret decided they look like olives, and I agree!

The top thread is lime green and the bobbin thread is a silvery-gray.  I am so happy with how it turned out!  The backing fabric is 108″ of Moda black, although it looks gray in the final photo due to the lighting at the long-arm shop.

At some point this week I would like to bind it.  Binding strips are cut and ready to be pieced.  I just need to hunker down and tackle that last step of the project….and it’s my least favorite part, so I’m REALLY not looking forward to it!

My goal is to have it finished by Sunday.  Wish me luck!

I’m linking this bad boy to WIP Wednesday @ Freshly Pieced!  Bam!

About msminnesota

I'm a wife, mom of two (one blue, one pink), and I work full time. Our family loves to camp, and we're often on mini adventures during the summer. My fall/winter/spring/rainy day hobby is quilting. I started about 10 years ago, then put everything away when The Blue One was born. A few years ago a good friend decided to take up this 'hobby' and I've been back at it ever since. She's my partner in crime (A.K.A. 'the enabler'). I have no aspirations of becoming a quilt designer - I'm just not that good at geometry (I rely on my math major/computer programmer husband to help with piecing backs at times!). This little blog is my way of chronicling my quilting adventures. Occasionally I post about non-quilting things as well. Thanks for stopping by. Don't forget to say HI! IG: wannabequilter

Beautiful! I love the 2 thread colors. Great choice! Congrats on the almost finish. 😉

The stitching complements the triangles nicely in color and geometry! And it looks so even! I need to invest in a machine that will quilt for me..unless you did that by hand, in which case, I am blown away.

Oh heck no, I didn’t do this by hand! 😉 I rent time on a long arm and she has a computerized option, so it did all the work on this one for me. Thanks for stopping by!

  3. I love the quilting on this quilt. The “olive design” makes me think of snuggling under that quilt with a tasty drink with olives. Really like how the lime green pattern shows up on the purple hexagon. Great job Julie!

I love your quilt and your quilting design. I saw it on the Flickr group and at my foot right now is a scratch paper that I doodled trying to get the flow of it so I can use the design. Fabulous!
