Fantastic Fall Sunday!

What a gorgeous day today turned out to be. When we woke up, it was super overcast, cold, and really windy.  I started to freak out a bit because today was family pictures day  – a day that I scheduled 11 months ago.  However, by picture time, it had cleared up, the sun came out, and the wind died down.  It was a PERFECT day for outdoor pics.  I cannot wait to see them! I know there are some great ones!

After photos, I ran to the LQS because they had called to let me know my new Sew Steady table was in. I used one with Bunny, but of course it didn’t fit Alice, so I had to buy a new one.  I’m so glad to have this table with my machine – I love all the extra space I have for piecing bigger pieces together.

I used some quiet time while the kids were outside and the hubs was watching football at the neighbors to get my June Vice Versa blocks assembled.

They look great in these photos because I cropped them nice and tight, but the blocks themselves are jacked up a bit. I had some issues with the flying geese.  I just learned how to do them for a previous VV block, so I’m pretty new at them yet – I had an issue with my seam allowance, and story short…I may be re-doing these blocks at some point.  One is definitely better than the other and is likely going to work, but the other may be too far gone. They’re supposed to be 12.5″ finished, but the one certainly isn’t.  I may see if I can fudge it when it comes to the sashing step.

About msminnesota

I'm a wife, mom of two (one blue, one pink), and I work full time. Our family loves to camp, and we're often on mini adventures during the summer. My fall/winter/spring/rainy day hobby is quilting. I started about 10 years ago, then put everything away when The Blue One was born. A few years ago a good friend decided to take up this 'hobby' and I've been back at it ever since. She's my partner in crime (A.K.A. 'the enabler'). I have no aspirations of becoming a quilt designer - I'm just not that good at geometry (I rely on my math major/computer programmer husband to help with piecing backs at times!). This little blog is my way of chronicling my quilting adventures. Occasionally I post about non-quilting things as well. Thanks for stopping by. Don't forget to say HI! IG: wannabequilter
