Bee Blocks

In my last post, I mentioned how unproductive I felt after I realized I had only completed two quilts in 2014, despite all the sewing I did!

I didn’t mean to get all down on myself because in reality,  I jumped out of my comfort zone and join two block of the month’s and a quilt along – things I’d not done before. I also joined the Promises Circle at do. Good Stitches.

Here are the blocks I’ve made since joining:

July Chunky Plus Block - PROMISE @ do.GoodStitches

Broken Bullseye - August Promises Block

This one was primarily made with fabric that just arrived this week from Pink Castle Fabrics. It was a special bundle – Boxing Day Stash.  Perfect because I don’t have a lot of variety in my stash, so when I saw the request/instructions for the Jan. 2015 block being scrappy, I didn’t have to panic!  Score!  I unfortunately didn’t get a pretty picture of the bundle before I cut into it for these three blocks…what was I thinking?

About msminnesota

I'm a wife, mom of two (one blue, one pink), and I work full time. Our family loves to camp, and we're often on mini adventures during the summer. My fall/winter/spring/rainy day hobby is quilting. I started about 10 years ago, then put everything away when The Blue One was born. A few years ago a good friend decided to take up this 'hobby' and I've been back at it ever since. She's my partner in crime (A.K.A. 'the enabler'). I have no aspirations of becoming a quilt designer - I'm just not that good at geometry (I rely on my math major/computer programmer husband to help with piecing backs at times!). This little blog is my way of chronicling my quilting adventures. Occasionally I post about non-quilting things as well. Thanks for stopping by. Don't forget to say HI! IG: wannabequilter

Sounds like a bit more reflection has helped you get some perspective on your achievements and adventures into BOMs etc. Those Boxing Day Stash fabrics are wonderfully bright and just right for this dull January day – thanks for lighting up the start of my day!

    Good work! Sweet Julie.
Wish I could say I’ve completed something! Still new to this and not entirely sure of what I’m doing. Think I’ll give it another go this year. You’re my inspiration.

I think blogging makes things feel competitive when we all should be going at our own paces. I only have plans for two or three quilts this year and I’m okay with that. I want to try some other things like crochet and tackle a big garden. It’ll be fun! Your blocks look great and you have some really fun fabrics in there. I think playing with fabric is one of the funnest parts of quilting. Stay warm! –Torina from Tubaville MN
