It’s Super Bowl Sunday but we won’t be watching the game today. My husband is a Green Bay Packers fan, but doesn’t watch the games because he’s superstitious – he thinks they’ll lose if he watches them! We don’t ‘do’ Super Bowl Parties – we tend to stay close to home and do our own thing for the game.
We had an opportunity to use Mother-In-Law’s timeshare this week in the Wisconsin Dells, and had a nice little 3-day getaway that we really needed. We took the kids out of school for a couple of days and spent some quality time together and had a really good time. I passed up heading to a quilt shop 20 or so miles from the resort we were staying at – I napped instead!
On the way home, we stopped at a favorite shop – Olive Juice Quilts – and I picked up a couple of things. ‘Nautical Map’ from Sarah Jane’s ‘Out to Sea’ line. I don’t know exactly what I’ll do with it. I bought a kit for The Pink One with ‘Out to Sea’ fabrics the last time I stopped at Olive Juice, but this print wasn’t in it. I may incorporate it into the quilt, I may make a pillow, I may not do anything with it at all….who knows?
I also purchased ‘Glow Friends’ from Sarah Jane’s ‘Wee Wander’ collection today. It will be the binding on another quilt for The Pink One.
Silly me, I let The Pink One come into the shop with me, and she decided that we needed to shop for fabric for Parker’s quilt. (Parker is a neighbor friend.) I kept telling her that I didn’t know that we were making a quilt for Parker, but she didn’t care…she kept wanting to pick out fabrics, so I relented and let her pick out two fat quarters. I hate to admit it, but I think she has as much of an ‘eye’ for what goes together as I do!
Olive Juice was having a big sale today, but I managed to only buy a few things. They were offering 10 free FQs with the purchase of 20 but I just couldn’t bring myself to spend the time to pick out 30 FQs! Sometimes you just gotta pass on a sale!
Linking up with Molli today!
Does your Out to Sea quilt need a back? That’s about all I can ever figure for those panel pieces. Although a coordinating pillow case sounds good too!
She told me she wants the ‘fuzzy’ fabric, so I picked up some minkey for the back last week. But yes, this print would have been perfect for the back!
So jealous of you getting to go to Olive Juice Quilts! So proud that I restrained myself. Pillows would look great in the map fabric! Are you working on Out to Sea or the Wee Wander quilt at the retreat? You have some great upcoming projects.
These two upcoming quilts are more because I want them than because The Pink One wants them. 🙂
